Arks –  the Low-Beer story behind Schindler’s List and Villa Tugendhat. The book follows the story of the Low-Beer name.  It is the story of two successive escapes from the Jewish ghettos to freedom.  The first escape is of the Jews from the ghettos into the center of European culture, from 1848 to 1938.In 1938 their world is shatttered with the invasion of Czechoslovakia.  Their textile factory is stolen by the Nazis and by Oskar Schindler.  It becomes a concentration camp where 1200 Jews on Schindler’s List are saved, shown in the film by Stephen Spielberg.In 2019 the family takes back the ruined textile factory to „Save and Renew Schindler’s Ark“ (www.arksfoundation.net).

Low-Beer textiles was founded in 1854, interrupted in 1938, and begins again in 2024.  The book is available in Czech and English and as a Czech audio book with Supraphon.
